As a Service Organization

Twilight Brigade's trained corps of volunteers visit patients in Veterans' Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Hospitals and Hospice facilities. Based upon patient requests and needs, the volunteers provide:

  • Reassurance and human companionship to the dying.

  • Relief and support to loved ones and caregivers.

  • Compassionate 24-hour attention through the last hours, allowing people to die in peace and with dignity.

  • No cost for services to either the patient or the family.

AND

As an Educational Organization

Twilight Brigade's volunteer training sessions, community workshops, and professional education seminars:

  • Educate individuals about death and issues surrounding the dying process, dispelling common fears and myths.

  • Raise awareness about volunteer service and the joy of serving.

  • Inspire others to become more involved within their communities.

  • Enhance healthcare professionals' skills in caring for dying patients.

CONTACT US

The sole purpose of Twilight Brigade's bedside volunteers is to provide comfort,
reassurance, and compassionate support to the dying and their loved ones.

The Twilight Brigade has assisted and comforted thousands of individuals during their final days and hours of life. We have received numerous awards from the highest levels of the Veteran’s & Armed Forces’ administrations, as well as from U.S. Presidents,  for our work in assuring that all our veterans are allowed to die in peace and with dignity.

Service at no cost is provided by trained volunteers to the patient and / or family!

While we fully embrace the hospice philosophy, The Twilight Brigade is not hospice, nor does it take the place of hospice. Our services are available to the terminally ill and their loved ones, whether or not the patient is hospice appropriate. The Twilight Brigade volunteers do not provide medical care,  medical treatments, or medical advice. That is the function of licensed professionals. While Twilight Brigade respects each individual's right to choose, we do not endorse suicide or euthanasia.
